Tanya and Marco were married this spring in a pretty and elegant Portuguese wedding with no less than 350 guests at Marlenique estate! The reception was overflowing with gold and pink details from ceiling to floor, as Grand Room Design used lots of candles in an assortment of gold bottles and vases to make the reception intimately romantic. The love, emotion and beauty of the day was captured by photographer Kathryn Van Eck.
“With a massive 350 guests at our wedding, this was a big Portuguese affair,” shares the beautiful bride, Tanya, who looked simply stunning in her Elizabeth Stockenstrom gown. “We had to make sure all were well fed and had enough to quench their thirst! The decor was breathtaking with lots of candles and flowers to make the venue look stunning and romantic. We had a amazing dessert table that everyone feasted on with delish mini desserts, macaroons and more!”

Gold and Pink Wedding
Love Story: Marco and I have been friends for about 12 years now. We always had a very special relationship and we became best friends about 7 years ago when we started to do absolutely everything together. After a year we realized that the friendship was definitely more and we tried it out – as they say the rest is HISTORY. We got engaged at my favourite wine farm Haute Cabriere a day after my birthday 🙂
Wedding Dress: I always knew I wanted a princess dress and lots of lace – I found my dress at Elizabeth Stockenstrom, it fitted my like a glove. I made a few changes to the look by adding the lace strap and it felt exactly how I imagined it!
Hair and Make Up: I a romantic up do with fresh flowers. I left my make up to a family friend Roz who knows me very well and did a perfect job.
Bridal Party Styling: The bridesmaids wore pink full lace dresses made by the brides very talented mother… the bouquets were miniature versions of mine. Groomsmen looked dashing in navy blue suits to compliment the ladies in pink.
Groom’s Attire: Marco wore a brighter blue suit from Fabiani.
Wedding Ceremony: We had our traditional ceremony in a catholic church with all the traditional music and songs played. I would not have had it any other way – it very special for us. The church was covered in beautiful flowers styled by a family friend which looked stunning.
Seating Chart: We had a big wood frame and pegs with the 32 tables of people.
Wedding Playlist: Our first dance was to Michael Buble’s “You Are My Everything.” The name of the song says it all! We are each others everything 🙂
Wedding Planning Advice:
I’d say when budgeting focus on food and the DJ. Although the decor creates an amazing ambiance, peope don’t remember all the decor deatils. They remember how good the food was and if they had a good party.
